To my understanding, they did soften their stance during the ten years they were associated. You can see this reflected in some WT articles from that period. But seeing how they've withdrawn their membership, and the majority of JWs don't know that it even happened, there's no reason why they can't go back to denouncing it as the wild beast. No harm no foul.

The 2006 "updated" Rev Climax book still "denounces" the UN as the beast.
by booker-t ini was recently given a copy of the 2006 revelation climax book by a jw's pioneer woman that i see all the time in front of the bus stop.
we talked for a while and she just handed me a billion books and mags.
i brought up the un scandal to her and she right away went into defense mode.

On fading
by lola28 inso i was thinking about this today and wanted to see what you guys think about fading?
for a long time i thought that this was the way to go especially if you wanted to maintain certain relationships be it with family or friends but lately i'm not so sure that fading is the best way to go and here is why.. the stress of having to go to meetings is some times overwhelmingthe amount of time you waste going to meetings when you no longer believe is time you will never get back, time that could have been spent doing something that you really do love, life is short why waste it in the hall?
the end results are the same if you are dfed, daed or fade.

For me personally It's better because I have family who take a very hard stance when it comes to DFing. My parents, two sisters and oldest brother would all shun me, though I haven't talked to my brother and sisters since I've stopped attending, so I guess it wouldn't matter in their case. The real problem is that I'm close with my other brother and my nieces and nephew, whom I adore. He isn't a hardcore dub, but his wife is another story. Even though I know he wouldn't shun me, it would cause serious problems in their marriage, especially if he wanted me to come over to their place. I don't want to be the cause of any problems between them, so I went the fading route instead, which apparently she doesn't have a problem with.

They told me the whole time I was in high school that any higher education was a bad idea, because the end was so close. Then a couple years out of high school I started reading WT articles and hearing talks implying that maybe a little higher education could be beneficial. This pissed me off in a big way.

My story isn't very interesting so I'll try to keep it short. I was born and raised a JW. I'm still technically considered JW, since I haven't been DF'd or DA'd. I'm trying to avoid that since all my family is still in. I began having serious doubts about the "truth" around the mid-90's. The main issue was the inconsistency in their saying salvation was a free gift, while all the while putting so much emphasis on works. I began to have more and more doubts over time, but I always managed to put them out of my mind. Eventually they just became too great to ignore. Then one day in a used bookstore, I came across a book called "The Watchtower Files", which was a compilation of WT articles which showed all their hypocrisy, false prophecies and cover-ups.I started thinking about the scripture in Deut 18:20-22 about false prophets. So ultimately it was the society's own words that convinced me it wasn't the truth. I haven't been to a meeting since then. Then in another book about JWs, I don't recall which one, I found out about this website. I lurked for almost a year before I finally decided to post. This website didn't convince me to leave, as that decision had already been made. But learning all the things I have, and reading about all your experiences has served as further validation.

What Lies or False Statements Has The Watchtower Society Been Guilty Of?
by minimus infor an organization that claims to be the heralder of the "truth", it seems they have a history of mistakes.
they assert that one must believe their "faithful slave" but who is that "slave"?
is it charles taze russell or all the anointed ones living on earth at a given time?

They never made any end of the world predictions. A few over-zealous brothers came to these conclusions on their own. It doesn't pay to get an education, or get married, or have children in this system. The time left is so short.

Don't bother, Frank. He's never going to get it. We've lived through it, he hasn't. He's going to continue to debate with people who have years of experience inside the organization at all levels and try to tell us that what we've experienced isn't real. If he's not a JW, than he's the classic apologist. He picks the most miniscule points to defend them on (Christmas) and turns a blind eye to serious shortcomings. He has no sympathy for the people who have suffered indignities at the hand of the WTBTS because he's never been one of them. He has a couple of friends who are "good and decent people", so that makes the rest of us liars.

"The Sound of Music" not theocratic enough?
by Frequent_Fader_Miles inone of the local congregations is having a farewell "concert" for their co who's leaving.
of course, the book study conductor felt obligated to take control by appointing himself screener of all performances before the event (how shocking!
what's wrong with the song as is?
